Continuous Learning

March, 15 2020
Dear Parents:
Due to the increasing COVID-19 pandemic and recent developments in guidance from public health, state, and local leadership, we will be suspending our classes from March 16 through 31. Based on the recommendations of officials and reflection among our leadership here in the Diocese, we believe this is the most necessary course of action to meet our obligation to the common good of our students, families, and communities.
The front doors of the school will be open 8am-8pm for families to pick up necessary books and supplies from their classrooms.  It is mandatory for supplies to be picked up during this time.
St. Andrew Catholic School will begin continuous learning Wednesday, March 18 at 8:00 am.  Teachers will be available from 8 am- 3 pm via email daily to answer questions.  Please know that our continuous learning platform will be uniform for grades K- 8.  Teachers will be working on this platform Monday afternoon and Tuesday, so that beginning Wednesday, March 18th , a formalized process will be in place for all students.  Parents will be emailed directions for procedures on Tuesday.  Students will be held accountable for the assignments during the days of continuous learning.
Regarding online learning, major internet service providers, including Comcast and Charter, have expanded their offerings to make sure more students and families have access. Charter will offer free Spectrum broadband and Wi-Fi access for 60 days to households with K-12 and/or college students who do not already have a Spectrum broadband subscription and at any service level up to 100 Mbps. To enroll, call 1-844-488-8395. Installation fees will be waived for new student households. Comcast is removing data caps and opening up their nationwide network of Xfinity Wi-fi hotspots free for the next 60 days.
Officials with our school, alongside those in the Catholic Schools Offices, will continue to closely monitor this evolving health crisis and remain committed to keeping you informed. We will communicate with you as needed in the upcoming days and weeks.
The Diocese of Charleston has launched a special website that will include updates and information about the coronavirus. You can visit that at
Thank you for your patience in this matter.  Bear with us as we navigate this unchartered territory and keep our community in your prayers as we enter this unprecedented time.  We will plan to see everyone tomorrow for supply pick-up.
May God Bless,
Debbie Wilfong
