Join us for Open house and PTO tonight!
Open house begins at 6:30pm in the classrooms. At 7:00, come to the CLC building for refreshments and our first PTO meeting for this year. Please remember that this is an Adults only evening.
Mrs. Dunne’s 8th graders will have responsibility for the reading, intentions, gift bearing and altar serving at tomorrow’s Mass. Mass begins at 9:00am, and parents are always welcome to join us.
Soccer tryouts for middle schoolers begin tomorrow, Sept. 1st, from 3:30 until 5:00pm at the YMCA field at Market Common.
Volleyball tryouts for middle school girls will be held tomorrow, in the gym, from 3:00pm until 4:30 pm.
Our golf tournament is this Friday! If you are playing, please plan to arrive at Blackmoor Golf Club by 8:30am. If your student is playing with you, please send a note to the office by Thursday to let us know. This will be an excused absence. Paul Flood says that we can still accept last minute golfers, so sign up today! We are also in need of prizes. Call Paul if you are able to help…385-7361. Thanks for your help. And, don’t forget the Back to School social in the gym from 5:00 until 7:30pm!
Our new music teacher
We are happy to welcome Mrs. Lisa Young as our new music teacher. Mrs. Young, originally from Northeast Ohio, moved to Myrtle Beach 14 years ago. She met her husband, Craig while working as the Production Manager at The Dixie Stampede and owns the horse that Craig used to ride in the show. She has a BA in Vocal Performance from Butler University as well as a BS in Music Education (K-12) from Coastal Carolina University. When she isn’t teaching, she runs a photography studio in Myrtle Beach, and in her free time, she enjoys snowboarding, horseback riding, hiking, camping and going to the beach with her three children, Lydia (9), Lily (7) and Tripp (3).

- Car Decals: Time to Promote! Promote! Promote! We need every family to place a car decal on the back of their vehicles. This is great publicity for our fundraiser. And it is FREE! Please see the order forms in this Tuesday folder. Decals also available in the front office.
- Meeting: Taste of the Town Planning committee will be holding a meeting on Thursday, September 2 @ 8:00 am in the CLC for Committee leaders to report. All are welcome.
· Taste of the Town Car Decals and T-Shirts will be made available at tonight’s Open House/PTO meeting. There will also be Advertising Packets for those interested in promoting their business, as well as Restaurant Packets for those of you who know of a restaurant that has interest in participation.
Auction Planning Meeting: The committee which is planning the Scholarship Silent Auction, to be held on Dec. 4th, will have their first organizational meeting on Saturday morning, Sept. 11th, at 10:00am in the CLC meeting room. We can always use more helpers. If you would like to volunteer for this committee, please call Amy Campbell at 222-0926.
Cell phone reminder: Students may not bring cell phones to school. If a parent has a reason for a child to bring the phone on a certain day, that reason must be contained in a note with the parent’s signature. The phone must then be turned into the office, with the note, and retrieved at the end of the day. A new note must be sent for each time the phone comes to school.
Good news from 3rd grade: Breana brought $9.00 to her teacher and asked that it be donated to the poor. We will pass this donation to the Community Kitchen which feeds many poor people every day. Thank you for your kindness, Breana!
Alexandra H’s name was inadvertently left off the list of Chapin Library summer readers…so sorry, Alexandra! Job well done!
Alum News: Both Shelby S and Tara H have been selected to play high school varsity volleyball. Shelby will play for MBHS; Tara will be on the NMBHS team.
Current 8th grader, Rachel Ann G, has been perfecting her tennis skills and this summer became the 14 and under State Clay Champion. Congratulations to all these fine athletes!
Gertrude Hawk Candy Sale orders are due September 15th. Please order a few items and help our school!
Best wishes to the Caldwell Family on the birth of their new baby boy, Finn. Zoe is a 6th grader and Ian is in 3rd grade.
